Flipper for testing relief of symptoms of photosensitive migraine.

The Akebi filters effectively combat the hypersensitivity to light that can lead to migraines. They have been designed using two key principles: to eliminate UV rays and to reduce light transmission around 484 nm. Too much light in this wavelength can cause ophthalmic migraines in some people. By attenuating this peak of light, wearers benefit from active migraine prevention. 

Melanopsin is the photopigment present in the ganglion cells of the retina and is responsible for light transmission. They are more sensitive to blue light and are thought to play a role in the onset of migraine. By effectively and precisely filtering the right wavelengths, a lens can inhibit the brain's chemical reactions and provide effective relief for the wearer.
